One Dress Is Never Enough…

Today’s blog post is a little different; usually we are focussing on THE DRESS but with many weddings being so much more than one day I wanted to look at dresses and looks to wear for all the events surrounding the big day.  From cocktails the night before, beautiful wedding morning lingerie and that knock out-just married-day after dress; the opportunities to wear something a little special and white are endless and thankfully the high street and affordable designers have our backs.

The night before…

With many of our brides getting married abroad or escaping to the country for a weekend of celebrations before and after the  wedding, the night before the big day is a great time to meet up with guests travelling from all over the country, catch up on news and get excited about the big day tomorrow and you need a look for that!  Whether you save the white/ivory dresses for tomorrow and opt for a bright colour to make you stand out from the crowd or adopt an all white theme for your wedding wardrobe I’ve found some beautiful looks to get you in the party mood and if dresses aren’t your thing this jumpsuit is the dream!

OK, so faded Primark PJ’s or the fiance’s over-sized tee is not going to cut it on your wedding morning i’m afraid.  It’s the morning of your wedding, hair and make up prep is in full flow, your dress is hanging up ready to be worn and there is a photographer capturing every little detail – you need to look good for this!

So you’re not ready to give up on the white and lace just yet and that’s ok, we got you!  Team your dress with your post wedding glow and sparkly new wedding ring, grab your new husband and you’re good to go!

Hopefully i’ve provided some inspiration to fully make the most of your time as the bride, I for one feel like i’ve missed out on a whole host of wedding related looks…wedding vow renewal anyone?!?

Aisle Update

I’ve just come back from a holiday in Florida and while I was eating outside at our favourite restaurants I noticed an amazing wedding ceremony set up directly on the beach. This got me thinking about the new wave of wedding ceremony styling that seems to be taking the relaxed, boho wedding world by storm.

If you are planning an outdoor, pared-back boho ceremony there are so many beautiful options dominating the pages of Pinterest.  I got lost on there for a good hour finding more and more beautiful, botanical displays with every click.

Pampas grass is a big feature combined with feathers, flowers and fairy lights; the options are endless.

Here are a few of my favourites, I found all these photos on Pinterest and have tagged the original source below:

This sunny weather is giving me all the outdoor wedding vibes, are you planning to say ‘I do’ outdoors?  We’d love to hear your plans.

SO, we woke up this morning and yep… its STILL snowing. I’m bored of it now. One thing the “Beast from the East” has done though is get us thinking of those beautiful winter weddings again and how to look stylish and warm on the big day for those amazing out door shots.

Bridal trends are changing and its a great time to be planning your wedding. Gone are the days that your Spring and Summer Weekends are packed full of friends weddings. Now we can expect to be invited to a wedding any time of year on any day of the week and we just love it! Today’s Bride gives zero f**** about tradition and today’s bride is a strong willed woman free to express her creativity, opinions and personality any way she wants.

With that said all bad ass brides have insecurities. More often than not brides are requesting sleeves on their wedding dress or a bolero to go over the top. Despite this, most brides opt for dresses without selves so what happens to our insecurities on the day or what do we do when the weather for the day is looking more Antarctica than Antigua?  Firstly our advice is you say a big NO to the Bolero and do your research.

Take a look below for some inspiration on Bridal Cover Up’s – 2018 style!

Statement Earrings For Life!

If you follow us on Instagram (@thewildheartlife) you may have noticed that Nicole and I are obsessed with the statement earring trend.  I don’t really wear much jewellery on a day to day basis but statement earrings are the perfect accessory to add a little colour or sparkle to any outfit and the same applies to your wedding day.

In our opinion the days of the simple pearl studs or diamond earrings are over, be adventurous and if, like us, you are loving a statement earring bring them through to your wedding day look.

Instagram is full of inspiring bridal shoots featuring brides wearing sleek or textured pony tails showing of a show stopping pair of earrings.  Here’s a little of our favourite inspo from Instagram and Pinterest plus an edit of our favourite statement earrings currently available for all price ranges.

Our amazingly talented designer Karen Willis Holmes giving us all the feels and inspo on how to nail the statement earring trend.

I’ve been a huge fan of Australia Designer Samantha Wills for some time since discovering her on Instagram, here are a few of my favourite pieces from her current collection and Samantha ships to the UK.

Nicole and I were both lucky to receive a pair of Soru Jewellery earrings from our husbands for Christmas so we can vouch for the excellent quality and service from this brand.  Even the packaging is awesome.  These earrings are so perfect for a wedding day and every day beyond, I have worn my pearl hoops with everything from dresses on a night out to jeans and a chunky knit for work.

Now if you are looking to make a statement on the big day but don’t fancy spending too much the highstreet is awash with beautiful styles at the moment with pre-payday prices!  I found loads of lovely ones on Mango, Zara, Accessorize, Topshop and ASOS but here are just a selection.

Chelsea & Paul’s Vintage Village Hall Wedding

Today on the blog I’m really excited to share Chelsea and Paul’s gorgeous vintage styled, village hall wedding.  Chelsea came to us searching for a dress that was a little different from a traditional wedding gown, a little more relaxed and boho while still being beautifully bridal. She also wanted to add a pop of colour and make the dress her own which is something we always enjoy, working with brides who are creative and know what they want from their wedding dress.
Chelsea chose ‘Rosalia’ a beautiful, statement lace gown from Katya Katya London and added her own twist on the original, removing the cap sleeves and opting for a light sage green slip to compliment her colour scheme.
Here Chelsea has provided us a wonderful account of her big day so take it away Chelsea!
Our venue was Wootton Village Hall (near Canterbury). The tight-knit community here built this hall themselves as a place to get together after their village pub closed down. They bought it flat-packed from Lithuania and then built it together with the help of some Lithuanian guys who came over to help. They are very protective of the hall and only have four to six weddings per year. We had to meet the villagers at their monthly coffee morning before we could book it. But it’s a lovely place and it really shows that it is well looked after.
Paul really didn’t want to wear a suit for the wedding so we got his outfit from a little shop on Brick Lane called Twins Diverse: A very lovely Italian man helped Paul choose his outfit and he was really happy that he could get something a bit different and he was very excited to wear it! We got the bow ties for Paul, the best men and page boy from 40 Colori, just off Brick Lane They custom-made the page boy’s bow tie to match Paul’s in the family’s factory near Milan.
We had arranged dresses about 6 months early because one of the bridesmaids lives in Canada. However, two of them became pregnant and would be five months pregnant at the time of the wedding! So we did a last minute change and opted for similar (maternity) dress for all 3 from Seraphine.
We decided not to use a florist. It makes me sad when the flowers die! So we chose silk flowers from Whittingtons in Lordswood My mum was keen to make the table decorations, archway and hair pieces, so using silk flowers allowed her to do this in advance.
We asked a family friend to do the catering for us, Glenda, the landlady at Gillingham pub, The Frog and Toad She did a fantastic job and everyone loved the food!
My friend and bridesmaid, Jamila, made the cake for us. She’s not a professional baker but she should be! She makes the most delicious cakes and decorates them beautifully.
The photographers are actually 3rd year Photography students at the University in Broadstairs. I think they did an absolutely fantastic job: Turner Photo – and
How you found your dress finding experience at The Wild Heart?
I thought that finding my dress would be such a difficult chore. I don’t like a fuss being made, or being the centre of attention, or making decisions! As soon as I stepped through the door I felt immediately comfortable. You guys are just lovely, so relaxed and natural, which made me feel at ease. I was able to take my time, pick out some things that I liked and you helped when you could see I needed some guidance. You provide a very personal service and it is clear you are passionate and love what you do.
What made your dress ‘The One’?
It felt right as soon as I put it on. It was so comfortable! The lace wasn’t itchy and it wasn’t tight and restricting like many others I’d tried. The beautiful lace gave it a vintage look and it was stunning without being overstated. I was able to combine two dresses from the same designer (the top of one and skirt of the other) to create the perfect dress that I absolutely love!
Thank you for an amazing account of your big day Chelsea, I love the idea of the Village Hall and bringing everyone together to celebrate with you.  Having family and friends around you to contribute to your big day with the flowers, cake and venue decoration makes it all the more special and personal to you both as a couple.  And the result was simply beautiful.
Congratulations again Chelsea and Paul you created a day full of love, laughter and happiness and we wish you the most amazing married life together. xXx

Gemma & Chris’ Wonderful Winter Wedding

I’ve been really excited to share today’s wedding with you as not only is bride Gemma my best friend’s little sister, she also created an amazing winter wedding, wearing the most stunning Hayley Paige dress in the utterly gorgeous venue, Easton Grange.

Gemma came to us in October 2016 searching for the perfect dress for her wedding in January…2017!  The ‘Pippa’ gown by Blush by Hayley Paige had just recently been released but we managed to borrow in a sample for Gemma to try and thankfully it was love at first sight!  The delicate allusion lace sleeves, daring open back and dramatic layered skirt fitted with Gemma’s vision and suited her perfectly.  With urgent calls and emails with Hayley Paige in New York and little rush order we were able to deliver Gemma the dress of her dreams within the very tight timescale.  Accessorised with Christian Louboutin heels, a simple tulle veil and a winter red lip Gemma looked the absolute dream at her candlelit ceremony.

I am in love with these images by Scott Miller Photography, they capture all the drama and atmosphere of the wintery scene as well as the fun of the wedding reception with Gemma and Chris surrounded by their friends and family on the dance floor.

Congratulations you guys, you may not have had long to plan your big day but you created a wedding to remember. Wow!

Jayne & Andy’s Big Day on The Algarve

Argh, on this cold and dreary October day I’m going to whisk you off to Portugal for the fabulous wedding of Jayne and Andy.  We loved having Jayne as one of our brides, she was enthusiastic, full of wonderful ideas for her beautiful wedding and so chilled out; always a pleasure to have her in the boutique.  Jayne’s positive attitude shines through in these photos by photographer Louisa Ferreia who now lives in the Algarve but, who Jayne later found out, was originally from Rochester – how spooky is that!

Jayne came to visit us at our first Blush by Hayley Paige Trunk Show after falling in love with the ‘Halo’ gown online.  Here she tells us how she found ‘The One’  at The Wild Heart:

“I stumbled across Hayley Paige’s dresses at the start of my wedding dress journey on the internet and fell in love with my dress (Halo) after looking through so many online. As Hayley Paige was an American designer, I wondered whether I would even be able to find a store in the U.K. let alone be right on my doorstep. I found The Wild Heart on Instagram and it turned out that Nicole and Alex had a Hayley Paige trunk show in the next few weeks (it was meant to be).

On the day of my appointment, the girls had Halo all ready in the fitting room and I couldn’t resist looking at all the other beautiful dresses and picked out a few more to try on. In my eyes, none compared to Halo, so after leaving the shop to have a coffee with my mum and my sister we went straight back to put the deposit down and order my dress. Alex and Nicole were so welcoming and the passion and love for what they do really shows. I still like to follow on Instagram for their fashion updates and new dresses and see all the other beautiful brides and what they did for their weddings”.

It’s always exciting and nerve wracking for us when a bride has found a specific dress they love online or in a magazine, we just hope they are going to love it as much in reality and luckily for us and Jayne, Halo is even better in real life!

Congratulations Jayne and Andy.

Blush by Hayley Paige – Designer Weekend

We are so excited to be bringing the full Blush by Hayley Paige Fall 2017 collection plus some Spring 2018 styles to the boutique on the 2nd and 3rd of December.  We will be one of the first to see these dresses and try them on our brides and we can’t wait!

Hayley Paige always delivers stand out, beautifully detailed, modern princess dresses and this collection has to be one of our favourites for a while.  There are so many gorgeous dresses coming in December but here are a few of our favourites that we can’t wait to receive!

FLEUR DE LIS – Spring 2018 collection

The photos just do not do this gown justice, it really has to be seen to be believed. Ivory floral embroidered tulle bridal ballgown with a deep sweetheart neckline, open keyhole back and if that wasn’t enough a sheer pocket detail!  We often get asked if we try the gowns on when they come in and I have to say this is the one I can’t wait to try!

SMITH – Fall 2017 Collection

We couldn’t love this dress anymore and with a name like Smith (our surname) it is an absolute Wild Heart must buy!  We have our own sample of this on the way in January but for now our brides can be the first to try this at our December designer weekend. This gown is an ivory organza bridal ball gown with floral embroidered illusion bodice (which is so much more amazing in real life!), open keyhole back and cascading skirt of layered organza and tulle.  Obsessed is not the word!

LINCOLN – Fall 2017 Collection

For brides who know and love Hayley Paige the Lincoln gown is an absolute must try!  With it’s signature HP sparkle, full skirt and open back Lincoln is everything a Hayley Paige super fan could want and more. Lincoln has a sequin and crystal bodice with deep sweetheart neckline, open keyhole back, full layered tulle skirt with thin horsehair trim.  An absolute beauty that will have your guests talking for years to come!

GIAMBA – Fall 2017 Collection

For a more understated bride who still wants a gown which is unmistakably Hayley Paige designed then Giamba is the perfect option.  The embroidery and attention to detail on this gown is insanely beautiful, Giamba’s features include an elongated bodice with sweetheart neckline and delicate straps continued to a low open back.  We can see our brides loving the detailed elegance of this gown, we have fallen in love!

So to book your space on the most exciting designer weekend call or email now, we are asking for a £20.00 booking fee which will be refunded against any gown, veil or accessory purchase you make on the day.  This is going to be a fabulously fun event with Prosecco, seasonal treats and a goody bag for every bride.

We only have one slot remaining on Saturday 2nd and two slots on Sunday 3rd so we can’t stress enough how quickly these spaces go.  The dresses will be here for that weekend only so call now to book your place. // 01634 409158.

Roll on December! xXx

The Wild Heart at 2!

On the week of our 2nd ‘Wild Heart’ birthday we want to take the opportunity to show you, what we feel, is our best collection of dresses since we opened, a little sneak peak into what’s coming soon and some of our beautiful Wild Heart Brides.  If you’re recently engaged and thinking about booking an appointment to see us then hopefully this will make up your mind.

We are constantly looking at ways to keep our boutique unique and fresh and of course that ultimately starts with our choice of designers, we’ve made a few changes since we opened in 2015 but our current designers are:

Our day 1 Australian designer, we were the first to bring KWH to Kent and they are for the ultimate cool bride.  KWH provides our sequins and sparkle with that extra ounce of sass!

Low backs, fitted designs and amazing bead work make KWH dresses stand out from the crowd and we also stock a beautiful range of KWH ‘Design Your Gown” top and skirt separates.  The ‘Mabel’ two piece was our first ‘risky’ purchase, we loved it but we didn’t know how brides would take to it, was the separates thing a fad?  Was this two-piece more of an ‘editorial’ piece?  But this has by far been one of our best selling dresses and chosen by brides for destination weddings in Santorini, country fair themed big days and always makes a statement.

With KWH gowns it really is how you wear them and style them up for your big day.  A simple cathedral length veil can transform a slinky sequin gown, which some people may see as an evening style dress, into the ultimate bridal vision!  Add a flower crown to the Tillie and Natasha separates and you’re in boho bride heaven!  Here’s a few of our current KWH collection plus our beautiful brides showing them in all their glory!

Wild Heart Bride Emma in Nerada // Celine Gown by KWH // Donna Gown by KWH // Wild Heart Bride Hannah in Anya // Wild Heart Bride Kirsty in Ellery

So while our go-to style may be sleek, slinky and minimal we felt we needed to add a little ‘modern day princess’ to the boutique and of course Hayley Paige had everything we were looking for.  Tiered tulle skirts, romantic, corded lace used in unusual ways and a hint of blush pink – yes please!  Hayley Paige is a huge name in America and is fast gaining popularity with UK brides looking for a statement dress for their big day that’s a little different from the rest.  Our collection includes the beautiful ‘Halo’ with it’s strappy, open back and tiered skirt, Lanai, a more understated gown without losing the HP wow factor and ‘River’ a classic fit and flare shape with the most amazing skirt and detachable sparkly bolero.  We are so excited about sharing our up and coming Blush brides in 2017 and 2018 and the new gowns we have coming for 2018…

At our first buying show back in May 2015 we fell in love with the delicate lace designs by Katya Shehurina and we are still just as smitten 2 years on.  These gowns appeal to a wide range of brides; those who love and appreciate beautifully detailed and excellent quality lace designs, brides who want a relaxed boho feel to their day without the boning and structure of a traditional bridal gown and brides getting married abroad who have to take into account factors like heat, luggage allowance and comfort.  We get excited every year and can’t wait to see what Katya comes up with next, different colour slips and the option to make subtle changes to these designs appeals to our creative Wild Heart brides.

Wild Heart Bride Sasha in Alice // Wild Heart Bride Annabelle in Vitalia // Wild Heart Bride Tracy in Liliana // Demelza Gown by Katya Katya

This is the newest brand to the Wild Heart and it has already proved a big success with our brides-to-be.When we went to the London Bridal show last year we were looking for a brand that could do it all to be honest!  We needed the gowns to appeal to brides looking for something slightly more traditional than our current designers, be at a good price point whilst still being in keeping with our Wild Heart values.  We chose pieces from both the Modeca and Le Papillon collections and we have been so impressed with the quality of materials and the fit of these gowns.  We feel we have something for most brides within this collection; ‘Alexia’ is a classic style satin gown with pockets for that Wild Heart twist and Aurora is a beautifully flowing gown, perfect for a destination wedding with a lace trimmed thigh split.  Oh yes!  Definitely a welcome addition to the Wild Heart rails, we can’t wait to build our collection next season and see our first Modeca bride in December 2017!

Aurora by Modeca // Beth by Papillon // Audrina by Modeca // Alexia by Modeca

Elizabeth Dye was one of the first designers we found when we came up with the concept for the Wild Heart.  Creative, modern and effortlessly cool ED designs are a Pinterest favourite.  The perfectly sleek Dunaway is still a firm favourite for us, it’s versatility allows the bride to truly make this dress their own as our gorgeous brides Hannah and Nikki have proved.  Lewisia is fun and fabulous with it’s fitted lace bodice and ballerina skirt and the flowing silky Electrique was the absolute boho dream on our stunning bride Charlotte this year.

Wild Heart Bride Hannah in Dunaway // Wild Heart Bride Charlotte in Electrique // Wild Heart Bride Frances in Lewisia //Wild Heart Bride Nikki in Dunaway //Xanadu by Elizabeth Dye

So if our fabulous designers haven’t yet convinced you to pay us a visit we also stock a gorgeous range of veils, shoes, accessories and gifts (not just for brides) by Katie Loxton and Joma Jewellery, with some gorgeous autumn/winter stock on it’s way.  There really isn’t a better time to come and see us, so if you are recently engaged or simply tired of trying the same style bridal gowns, visit us in Rochester for something a little bit special.  We promise you won’t regret it!

Happy 2nd birthday to us!

Frances and Shaun’s New Zealand Dream

After a far too long break from the blog I am so excited to share this truly beautiful destination wedding with you today.  Frances and Shaun were married at the Tarureka Estate in Featherstone, NZ, a rustic, sensitively restored historic barn with it’s very own chapel and banquet area.  I couldn’t help smiling watching the photo highlights reel, everything just looks so effortlessly stunning.

Frances came to The Wild Heart looking for a relaxed, fun and modern wedding dress to suit the relaxed vibe of her big day and ‘Lewisia’ by Elizabeth Dye fit the bill perfectly.  After a few bespoke changes to make the dress fit just right Frances created the dress of her dreams and these photos by Anna Munro show it off in all it’s glory!

Congratulations Frances and Shaun, you created a day full of love and laughter and one that i’m sure your guests will remember for years to come. I’ll let the photographs do the talking now…
